Drugs and toxins

The Department of Medicine is the backbone and one of the eldest departments offering veterinary services and animal care in Sudan. It shares holds on the administration of the Veterinary Hospital with other counterparts. The department main duties in the Veterinary Hospital are to handle cases of the different domestic animal species in need of medical care and offer therapeutics through a pharmacy located inside the hospital.

The department also offers services on veterinary and agricultural toxicology and animal forensics. With the increasing interest on the wildlife and livestock and wildlife interface relations, the department started teaching courses on wildlife medicine and offers services of wildlife care through the veterinary hospital. Beside animal health services, the department carries out wide range of research on other aspects relevant to health, environment and food safety.

Research activities:

The department conducts research on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of farm and wild animals, it also conducts research on theraputic, toxicology and forensic medicine.
